The Problem With Olive Trees

The unfortunate thing is that some Olive Trees can create a heck of a mess. They're capable of producing hundreds or even thousands of Olives each year. The ripened Olives fall to the ground and rot if not cleaned up in a timely fashion. The rotting Olives produce a food source for several critters including rodents, birds and bugs. They also kill vegetation, stain walkways and other surfaces and get tracked in to your carpets, flooring and vehicles. When some birds, especially pigeons, feed on the ripened Olives their feces can stain the roof and ledges on your home or just about ruin your solar panels. If enough ripened Olives accumulate in one place they can create a surface that is slick, hazardous and unsafe to walk on.
