Why Trapper Max Glue Boards?

Q: How effective are glue boards?

A: Glue Boards are an essential and effective tool for any do it yourself pest control plan. The glue is quite sticky, but non-toxic, so safe for pets and children. Trapper Max Glue Boards will catch any insect, but are great at catching scorpions that get into your house. Every scorpion that gets caught is a scorpion that cannot climb walls, into your bed, shoes or clothing. That's why we include these sticky traps in our DIY Scorpion Seal E-Book and on the Scorpion Sealing page on this website.

Pro Tip: Should your children or pet get ahold of a Trapper Max Glue Board - don't panic. They are non-toxic, so the only problem is that they are very sticky. Simply use rubbing alcohol to remove any glue from hands, paws, or ? Obviously clean with soap and water afterwards.

Why Do They Work?

Q: What does a sticky trap do?

A: Sticky traps - also known as glue boards, glue traps or sticky cards (such as the Trapper Max Glue Boards available on this page) - are extremely effective at catching many unwanted pests. This is beneficial in 2 ways:

1. Every critter that gets caught on a sticky trap is a critter that's not running around your home or business. Every time you find a scorpion or rodent stuck on the Trapper Max Glue Board that you've placed in your home or business, you can know that it is not hiding in your bed, shoe or desk drawer.

2. Sticky traps are fantastic monitoring devices. Trapper Max Glue Boards tell you exactly what sort of critter is being caught and exactly where they are being caught.

The type of critters caught and the location where they are caught provide invaluable information that will help your pest control program to be more effective. The type of critter may inform how your treatment program should be carried out (type of spray, schedule of treatment, etc.), and the location can tell you if you have a gap or opening where the critters consistently gain access to your indoor space.

How Do I Use The Trapper Max Glue Boards?

Q: Where should sticky traps be placed?

A: Most of the time, sticky traps should be placed along the walls - both inside and outside. We really recommend putting one on each side of any door going outside or to the garage. Why? Most critters prefer to move around by following walls or other barriers. There are several reasons for this behavior, depending on the species in question.

For instance: there is a condition called centrophobicity, which is basically the tendency to avoid open spaces. Rats and mice are extremely centrophobic, mainly because they feel more vulnerable to predators when they are out in the open.

There is another condition called thigmotaxis that can also explain why some critters prefer to move along the walls or borders. This condition leans more towards the want/need for physical contact with the wall. It probably feels safer than being out in the open does, but it also allows critters to leave behind their mark - either a scent (rodents) or pheromone (insects) that allows the other critters to know something about the path taken.

There several other points of discussion as to why most critters prefer to travel along a wall or border. But, regardless of why they do it, that behavior makes sticky traps or glue boards an invaluable tool in any pest control program.

Pro Tip: These particular glue boards are made with folding points that turn then into a sort of tunnel. We highly recommend taking advantage of this functionality. First off, most critters are more comfortable entering an enclosed space than an open area. Secondly, the folding reduces the amount of dust and dirt that can land on the glue. Dust and dirt will eventually render the trap ineffective, but folding them will help the trap remain effective for a much longer period of time. Then, thirdly, the presence of critters who have become stuck in the glue is unsightly. Folding these traps blocks the view.

Is A Trapper Max Glue Trap Toxic?

Q: Are trapper max glue traps poisonous to dogs?

A: These pest control glue traps are not toxic or poisonous - to people or pest. They simply consist of a thin carboard and glue. The whole premise is to catch pests - not to poison them. Trapper max glue traps are one of the safest and most effective DIY pest control tool available for any pest problem.

Pro Tip: If your child or dog - or other pets for that matter - get ahold of a glue trap, simply clean the glue off of them. Rubbing alcohol works very well and is usually readily available and inexpensive.
